Masonry Stabilization

Perry’s Victory
Put-In-Bay, South Bass Island, OH

The pink granite column was erected in 1913-15 to commemorate Commodore Oliver Perry's 1813 victory in the Battle of Lake Erie. Water damage prompted a complete masonry repair of the 352' structure. In addition to repairs of the exterior 18-48" granite blocks, the interior brick lining was also restored. Stones were cleaned, and cracks - some up to 150' long - were repaired and sealed. Structural repairs were made to reinforced concrete at the basement and elevator penthouse levels. In addition, the exterior stone and brick plaza was repaved and its monumental staircase rebuilt.
