One of the world's largest masonry bearing-wall structures, Philadelphia's City Hall was designed by John McArthur, Jr., and built from 1871-1901. A multi-phase restoration project aims to maintain the visual and functional coherence of this landmark building. Work includes cleaning and repairing deteriorated masonry, stabilizing deteriorated substructures, cleaning and repairing cast-iron ornamentation, and structural accommodation of modifications necessary to bring the building into the 21st Century. Keast & Hood Co. serves as structural consultant for the entire multi-disciplinary design team.
