Renovation, Addition, Adaptive Reuse

Academy of Music for the 21st Century
Philadelphia, PA

This major renovation project of a nationally-registered historic building entailed the construction of supplemental steel trusses in the auditorium attic to bolster and support the historic timber roof truss system and the reconstruction of the stagehouse for modern set loading. Additional work included the updating of mechanical and electrical systems and construction of a mechanized orchestra pit. The project is consequent of the engineering services provided during the 1989 emergency stabilization and repairs to the historic roof construction.
