Dumbarton Oaks Main House
Washington, DC
Owned and operated by Harvard University, Dumbarton Oaks occupies a 19-acre campus in Georgetown. Structural design was provided for a new 40,000 square foot library and a 15,000 square foot central utility plant. The library is a five-story structure utilizing cast-in-place concrete structural framing and pre-stressed ground anchors. It is nestled into the side of a steeply sloping, wooded dell, and features an articulated facade and cascading terraces to fit with the site's topography. The new library is clad in red brick and limestone to complement historic campus buildings.
