2009 Presidential Inaugural Stands
Washington, DC

Keast & Hood Co. provided structural design for the 2009 Presidential Inaugural Review Stands. Three demountable, recyclable structures were designed and built on an extreme fast-track schedule in time for the historic January 20, 2009 inauguration. The project emphasizes sustainability - 100% of the structure will be reused in future inaugurations or recycled upon disassembly. A new Presidential Review Stand is located in front of the White House to accommodate President-Elect Obama and his staff; a three-story Media Stand is located across Pennsylvania Ave. in Lafayette Park; and a Review Stand serving the DC Mayor’s staff is erected on the steps of City Hall. In addition to full construction documents and construction administration, Keast & Hood Co. provided a Building Information Model (BIM) using Revit Structure© to meet integrated project delivery requirements.
