Ballenger Creek (Linton) Barn
Frederick, MD
The Ballenger Creek Barn was an abaondoned mid-18th Century fieldstone and timber-framed bank barn. Its extremely poor condition included partial collapse of several walls and roofs. Keast & Hood Co. designed stabilization and immediate repairs, including internal shoring and external bracing of freestanding gable end walls to accommodate debris removal and permanent repairs. Using fully reversible techniques, Keast & Hood Co.’s design re-established the barn’s character until future restoration or adaptive reuse efforts can take place.
