National Assembly Building
Dhaka, Bangladesh
The monumental National Assembly Building is a complicated concrete and marble building divided into three parts, with nine individual blocks of function-specific spaces. The blocks are linked horizontally and vertically to appear as a unified whole, rising to 110 feet, with a central component 155 feet in height. The structural design took into consideration the human labor used for construction. The irregularity of hand-formed concrete surfaces was hidden with marble strip ornamentation at each joint.
