Higher Education
Smeal School of Business
The Pennsylvania State University
University Park, PA
The new school consists of two L-shaped, steel-framed buildings, anchored by a common four-story atrium lobby. The lobby features a three-level bridge suspended from a truss at the fourth floor level. The three connected bridges appear to float above the 60-foot clear span lobby space. The facility provides lecture halls, classrooms, offices, and a rooftop terrace for special events. As part of the same East Sub-Campus Development project, Keast & Hood Co. also provided structural engineering services for a chilled water plant.
