Perelman Building
Philadelphia Museum of Art
Philadelphia, PA
The former Reliance Standard Life Insurance Building, one of the best examples of Art Deco architecture in Philadelphia, was adapted and renovated as an adjunct facility for the Philadelphia Museum of Art. Project work included renovation of the existing five-story structure and construction of a three-story addition. Structural upgrades support new loading requirements. The steel-framed building's existing concrete joists were replaced with steel joists and upgraded to increase capacity. Modifications to support new MEP improvements and freight and passenger elevators were also included.
