Religious
Christ Church Neighborhood House
Philadelphia, PA
Keast & Hood Co. provided structural engineering for design of a link between Neighborhood and Washburn Houses, insertion of an elevator, and interior renovations within both buildings. Structural complexities included basement underpinning to accommodate the new elevator, extending an existing Neighborhood House stair to the basement level, and creation of a gated exterior plaza spanning underground crypts. The revitalized Neighborhood House features a new multi-purpose room and ADA accessibility, improving its community service mission. The new exterior space visually and physically connects the houses with historic Christ Church. The project earned a 2011 Preservation Alliance Grand Jury Award.
