Religious
Christ Church
Philadelphia, PA
Often referred to as the first church of the new nation, Christ Church was constructed in the early 1700s, with a masonry tower and Robert Smith-designed steeple added in the 1750s. Keast & Hood Co. began its long relationship with the church in the early 1960s. The main church roof was repaired and strengthened in 1964; gallery roofs were repaired in 1968 and strengthened in 1976. The tower and steeple were reinforced in 1983. The preservation concepts and standards of construction evolving from the earlier Independence Park projects guided the work at Christ Church.
