Church of the Advocate
Philadelphia, PA

The National Historic Landmark was significant in the Civil Rights Movement, saw the ordination of the first female Episcopal priests, and continues to be an instrumental neighborhood community center. Keast & Hood Co. has completed several structural analyses and small projects for the church, and recently completed design of a new steel-framed, precast concrete-floored gymnasium and community space. The Paul & Christine Washington Family and Community Center is a two-story building constructed within the footprint of an old chapel. The project included rehabilitation of two remaining walls and an adjacent boiler room.
