A 26,000 square foot addition and a 24,000 square foot renovation of the Eisenhower Chapel created a new worship space with seating for 800. Designed to welcome all faiths, the building's flowing form evolved from a collaborative effort between architect and engineer. A 55-foot high, curving long-span roof tops the building, which includes masonry walls with oblique offsets, and three supplementary worship spaces set at varying angles to the sanctuary. A 3D finite element computer model was created to facilitate the design of an economical frame of appropriate strength and stiffness to support the building's large open spaces.
