Keast & Hood Co. provided structural engineering for renovation of the entrance and lobby of a mid-century modern office high-rise, including extending the vestibule from its original set-back location to the building line, new structural glazing, exterior lighting, and interior rearrangement of lobby spaces. Keast & Hood Co. determined wind forces for use by the structural glazing design firm; reviewed the glazing system weight on the ground floor structure and designed basement top slab reinforcements; engineered the demolition and re-framing of the step-back roof; designed supports for lowering a portion of the lobby ceiling; and modified the interior floor slope. Consulting on brackets for exterior signage and light fins involved exploration to determine column composition.
