Historic Building Stabilization
Maryland and New Jersey

Structural engineering means more than designing to code: it's having the insight to balance economy, constructability, and durability, while keeping safety and structural integrity paramount. Two historic building stabilizations were made possible through creative structural engineering and collaboration. The mid-18th Century Ballenger Creek (Linton) Barn suffered partial collapse. Using fully-reversible techniques, the barn was stabilized for future adaptive reuse. Built in 1891, the William P. Finlaw pants factory building was stabilized following 25 years of abandonment and partial collapse. The renovation included permanent stabilization of the building's historic facade.
